When you go out to dinner it may be daylight when you start, but when you finish, and it’s dark, and you step outside and the lights are on, you just want to walk around and explore. Its magical and romantic.
Thank you everyone who ‘bought a block’ to make the downtown lighting a reality. We cannot do what we do without community support. The more appealing a downtown is, the better for business. Creating an attractive, festive atmosphere and brighter streets helps in that way.
The lights run from Blount to King and Mitchell to McLewean Streets, and navigationally, in case you are wondering why two colors, the cool white lights indicate North/South directions while warm white lights indicate East/West throughout the central business district of downtown..
Thank you Kinston Public Services for installing the lights for us. Screwing in thousands of light bulbs, hanging the cords just right, installing the photocells, and troubleshooting issues as well as rehanging street pole banners was a very tedious and time-consuming process. It looks fantastic! We are grateful to these guys and to the City of Kinston for this contribution to our downtown revitalization.
This downtown enhancement has gotten lots of positive feedback. Because it adds so much to the overall vibe of our downtown and the tremendous hospitality our businesses provide, we now have a Statewide dental meeting scheduled for January 2024.
